PARKWAY SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTS - OVERVIEW
Overview Parkway Health Store was founded in 1980 by chemist, Paul Wittmer, a graduate of Lawrence Technical University. He worked for several years in industry as a product development chemist/engineer and always had a keen interest in the health and well being of people, animals, and the environment. This came about in his childhood, having been exposed to the medical industry through his mother being afflicted with rheumatoid arthritis at an early age.	The Young Chemist, Paul Wittmer, June 1975
He was convicted to stay out of the clutches of doctors and their medicine and began to research alternative methods for relief of illnesses and self-healing. This included an intense study of reflexology, iridology, kirlian photography and many other “out-of-the-box” theories.
His first monumental and harrowing encounter was the manufacture of gravity boots in the early 1980’s where he learned about the medical mishaps and the dubious practices of patent law enforcement. This episode of his life was one of many adventures which was intensely exciting, and yet wearisome and exhilarating by the same token.
The last twenty years have been devoted to the marketing of hydrogen peroxide and it’s derivative products for human aid. One main mission of his life has been to find solutions which are harmonious with nature, and yet, beneficial to all. This is his passion.
Hydrogen peroxide has been used for over a century as a defense against microorganisms that invade our immune systems. It is made up of two hydrogen atoms and two oxygen atoms. Grape seed oil is extracted from grape seeds and has a relatively high smoke point, approximately 420 degrees, so it can safely be used to cook at high temperatures. It can be used for stir-fries, sauteing, and fondue. The clean, light taste has been described as “nutty”. Popcorn stays fresh longer and has a delicious taste when made with grape seed oil. It contains Vitamin E, Vitamin C, and Beta-Carotene, as well as linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid. It contains a group of bioflavonoids known as procyanadins. It is great when used as a salad dressing, or as a base to infuse garlic, rosemary, or other herbs and spices into a recipe. It can also be used when making mayonnaise.
Grape seed oil is also high in antioxidants, making it both a preferred culinary as well as cosmetic ingredient. A large survey published in 1993 in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology showed that in a sample group of 56 men and women using up to 1.5 ounces of grape seed oil per day, grape seed oil had the ability to raise HDL levels by 13% and to reduce LDL levels by 7% in just three weeks. The total cholesterol/HDL ratio was reduced 15.6% and the total LDL/HDL ration was reduced by 15.3%, which could be significant for those at risk of heart attack.
